V.3 : After having prepared a two storey design we began to question the impact it would have on the existing layout, since it was not possible to connect such a large extension without reducing the amount of light which reached the existing interior. Our solution was to reconfigure the existing house - gutting it completely and creating a more open interior with increased focus on the views to the west. While this solution worked quite well and met the client's needs, the resulting disruption was deemed to be too much of a headache to the client and we began looking again at a one storey solution.
Methodology
Since not every Client can read drawings, we sometimes feel the need to express our design intentions through diagrams. Similar to sketching, the images provide clear concise descriptions of what is proposed and the justification behind certain design decisions.
